Show Me 5 Saturday

You will post the answer to these questions. The number indicates the number of answers you will provide.

1. Book you read/reviewed this week:

Grave Secret by Charlaine Harris

2. Words that describe the book:

Paranormal mystery.

3.Settings where it took place or characters you met:

1. Present day - Texas, USA.
2. Harper Connelly : struck by lightning when she was 15 and left with the gift of being able to sense the dead and know how they died.
3. Tolliver, her stepbrother/lover and partner in solving mysteries.

4.Things you liked and/or disliked about it:

1. I liked meeting up with Harper and Tolliver again because I've read the other three in this series and they have an interesting relationship and working partnership.
2. I liked the easy reading style - and the gorgeous cover!
3. I didn't like that the story focused more on their personal family life rather than on the talents of Harper being put to use because much of it was simply a rehash of what I already knew from the previous books.
4. I didn't like that the great sense of humour normally found in this author's books seemed to be missing .

5. Stars or less for your rating?

3.5 stars because overall I was disappointed .

  1. I'm so glad you joined this meme! I wonder what the reason is for the change in basic mood of this book (you mentioned the missing sense of humor, for one). Do you think it's the last of the series?

  2. I have heard that it may be the last in the series and I think that's quite likely because of the way the one big mystery that runs through all the books was cleared up. A pity because I actually preferred this series to Sookie and her vampires.

  4. Glad to see you joining the Show Me 5 gang!! I just love this format .... it is an easy way to review a book.

I have to say, I'm just starting the Sookie books by this author. I guess if I love it, I can move on to this one. Though stepbrother/lover seems like an odd pairing!

  5. Monique....I wouldn't put yourself in such a dangerous position for these ones.

Jenners....it does sound a bit off but no blood ties between the two of them!
