Library Loot

Hosted alternately by Marg at The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader and Eva at A Striped Armchair.

A meme to encourage bloggers to share all the wonderful loot they bring home from the library.

Only three this week! That's all I allowed myself because I really want to reduce the pile this week and avoid having to take books back I haven't read . I've been caught twice lately not being able to renew because someone else has the book on hold and it's all a bit frustrating.

I couldn't resist having a browse through what was available by Daphne du Maurier - I'm looking forward to the challenge and I'm going to start with this one which I haven't read and was the first book she wrote.

The Loving Spirit by Daphne du Maurier............a Cornish family saga, an inimitable blend of romance, history and adventure. The title is taken from a poem by Emily Bronte so it seemed fated that the next book I noticed was......

The Taste of Sorrow by Jude Morgan........Emily, Anne, Charlotte........the Brontes, three sisters who suffered and the passion that saved them.

The Wilding by Maria McCann.........17th century England, a generation after the Civil War....one family is about to uncover its darkest secrets.

That's my loot for the week - what's in yours?

  1. Haha! I know what you mean when you say that you have to set a limit on library books. I tend to get carried away, myself. Anyways, great looking books! I hope you enjoy them.

  2. While not her best work, The Loving Spirit is interesting to see what D du M wrote in her earlier days - and take a look at Julius if you want something really dark. The Taste of Sorrow is coming out in the US with a new name (which escapes me at the moment) and yay (!) the library has ordered some. Heard a lot of good things about it.

  3. Thanks Emidy - so hard to resist temptation.

Thanks for the recommendation, Misfit - I will take a look at Julius as I haven't read that either.
All this name changing is so annoying - I can never figure out why they do it!

  9. Ah you know you're a bookaholic when you have to set a limit :). I feel you! I only take 3 at a time home now too or otherwise they end up going back or getting renewed twice. Great choices! I just added The Taste of Sorrow to my list of books to check out!

Here is my Library Loot post if you'd like to come on by!

  13. Ohhh; that's a new-to-me du Maurier. I love her, and all I have left to read is her lesser known stuff. I might have to give that one a try!
