Library Loot

Hosted alternately by Marg at The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader and Eva at A Striped Armchair.

I returned quite a few this week and while it was nice to see that TBR library pile reduced in size it was even more fun adding a whole lot more to it. This is what I came home with.......

Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman.............a collection of short stories, 'of ghosts and heartbreak, dread and desire, of trusting wolves and little French ladies". For the Once Upon a Time fantasy challenge.
Black Ships by Jo Graham......when nine black ships appear, captained by an exiled Trojan prince, Gull must decide between the life she was born for and a most perilous adventure". Historical fiction for the Colourful Challenge.

I Can See You by Karen Rose............a suspense thriller
The Saffron Gate by Linda Holeman.........an enthralling adventure set against the spellbinding backdrop of 1930's Marrakech.

Angelology by Danielle Trussoni...........I haven't actually got this yet - I had it on hold and the library rang up this morning to say it was there for me and now I shall have to go and pick it up which might prove dangerous. Temptation is always lurking!
The Storyteller/The Hakawati by Rabih Alameddine............this one really intrigues me. Set in modern day Beirut , a contemporary story interwoven with folklore and fairytales.

and finally two non-fiction.....

Footpaths in the Painted City by Sadia Shepard..........the child of an American father and a Pakistani mother and raised in the US the author discovers her maternal grandmother was not born a Muslim like the rest of her Pakistani family. Instead she had begun her life as as Rachel Jacobs, a member of the Bene Israel, a tiny Indian-Jewish community. Sadia Shepard travels in search  of her family's past.
Ngaio Marsh by Joanne Drayton.............the first of two books I'm reading for the Classics Circuit Golden Age of Detective Fiction tour.

Having been talking about global reading in my previous WeeklyGeeks post it was interesting to note that this selection of books ais going to see me travelling to a number of different countries.........US, Lebanon, India/Pakistan , Morocco and Ancient Greece.

Hope you have some wonderful loot this week too!

Foothpaths looks great too. I am going to see if our library has the US version (your cover is prettier though).

  5. A great set of books. I haadn't seen the Rabih Alameddine before and I am very curious. And the Ngaio marsh biography is on my list to order when I get the library pile down a bit.I know nothing about her, but if the settings of her novels are anything to go byit could be fascinating.

  6. Blodeuedd - I've only read one other of Linda Holeman's which I liked so hopefully this will be the same.

Hi Heather - thanks for hopping by!

Kathy - I'm looking forward to both these books. It is a lovely cover and what caught my eye on the shelf.

Rose - it's new to me too. I don't read many short stories but I thought these should be good.

FF - The Storyteller intrigued me as well. It sounds a fascinating mixture. Looking forward to Ngaio Marsh too.
