Theme Thursday - Trees

This is a meme hosted by kavyen at Reading between Pages. “Theme Thursdays” will be open from one Thursday to the next and anyone can post it. The rules are simple:

* A theme will be posted each week (on Thursdays)
* Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
* Post it and don’t forget to mention the author and the title of the book
* It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
* Since we may take a few days to finish a book, this event is open for one whole week

This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.

This weeks theme is
TREES (Plants/Greenery )

" When Gerlof built his cottage at the beginning of the 1950's he had a view of the sea to the west and had just been able to see the tower of the Marnas church in the east, but at that time there were plenty of sheep and cows grazing the land. Now the animals were gone and the trees had come back, their crowns forming an increasingly dense canopy around the cottage."

p14.......The Quarry by Johan Theorin.

  1. The cover is creepy! I love it! How are you enjoying this book? It looks so interesting. Great choice on your snippet.

  2. I have to agree with Cristina, the cover looks so creepy! (I need to head to goodreads and read more about it!)

You picked an excellent quote though, it has my interest.

  3. In a tale that shows us lovely settings, bad things are bound to happen! But I love the images of the canopy of trees....hope the story is spooky-good!

  4. Hi!
Sounds like a great place to be. I'll have to check this book out. Have a great day!

  5. How sad that the view of the sea is blocked! I'd be taking care of that problem!
    Here's Mine

  6. Great snippet - that cover is amazing. Depicts the cottage perfectly.

  7. Hi all - thanks for dropping by.

The Quarry is different to what I expected but very good. Not as creepy as the cover suggests though.

  8. Spooky cover! Sounds intriguing.

  9. I hate to see places without trees. Glad the trees came back.

  12. I also love the cover! I wonder why there aren't anymore sheep and cows around...
