Monthly Roundup - July 2012

Goodbye, July! A month which always flies by because school holidays and lots of family birthdays keep us busy. Somehow I always manage to keep up the reading, even if does mean some late nights, but posting about the books I've read suffers terribly. I might have to settle for some 'quick mention' posts to catch up this month.

Books read in July = 12
Italics are from my bookshelf or on my Kindle

For the Victorian Celebration

Barchester Towers by Anthony Trollope
Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy

I've really enjoyed this event......thanks Allie! I read 7 books, 5 fiction which I wrote posts for and 1 non-fiction I didn't and managed to cross 5 titles off my Classics Club list.

Other reading

No One Left To Tell by Karen Rose
City of Hope by Kate Kerrigan
The Behaviour of Moths by Poppy Adams
Random Passage by Bernice Morgan
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
Gilgamesh by Joan London
The Gods of Gotham by Lyndsay Faye
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce
A Walk Across the Sun by Corban Addison

Clarissa in July........for the first time I have slipped behind the schedule with no excuse except that with all the other classics I was reading I wasn't in the mood for more. I'll catch up again in August.

Fiction = 12
Non-Fiction = 0
Library Books = 10
E-books = 1
Off my Shelf = 1
DNF = 0
Added to shelf = 1 .......a giveaway win from the Victorian Celebration.

Bleak House by Charles Dickens

What's ahead in August?

Although it's hard to believe it's almost time for our annual charity Book Fair in September which means by the end of August I'll need to have my box of donations ready. Problem is there are still far too many of last years purchases sitting unread on my bookshelf. I really need to make an effort to read at least one a week this month and ignore the toppling library pile.

Austen in August

I plan to read Persuasion and maybe a biography.

Wishing everyone a wonderful August

  1. I have a library problem too! Maybe we should cut up our library cards like some people cut up credit cards! :P

    1. I'd be lost without my library card but a little more restraint would be good.

  2. July was a non-Clarissa month for me, but I'm planning to return to it later in August or September.
