This week will be a quiet one on the blog as we have our daughter and her family coming to stay which means lots of lovely family time and enjoying the company of three of our lively grandsons. Reading will also be at a minimum but I still picked up a couple of books today (Monday) to add to the pile.
The Orchardist by Amanda Coplin..... " an astonishing and unforgettable epic about a man who disrupts the lonely harmony of his life when he opens his heart and lets the world in." I've read some positive reviews of this one so was pleased to see it appear on the library shelves.
Blood Sisters by Sarah Gristwood......the hidden lives of the women behind the Wars of the Roses. This era in history has always been a favourite of mine so I can never resist a new title although I doubt I'll learn anything I don't already know.
What's in your loot this week?
Blood Sisters sounds very interesting. Enjoy your time with your daughter and grandsons!
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire. Hoping to find a few moments to start Blood Sisters which does sound interesting.
DeleteI have the same two books on hand. I loved Sarah Gristwood's novel, but I've never read her non fiction, and I've read a lot of praise for The Orchardist. I hope you have some lovely family time too!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know she had written a novel and will have to check for it in the library.
DeleteHope you enjoy your books and your time with your family. Happy reading!

The Orchardist came up as a possible selection at my book club meeting today. It was not chosen (we will be reading Mudbound), but I was definitely intrigued... will be curious to hear what you think.
ReplyDeleteI've had Mudbound on my TBR for ages - one day I might get around to reading it.
DeleteEnjoy your books and your family!
ReplyDeleteThanks ,Linda!
DeleteI want that blood sisters book so badly! I just finished a book about the wars of the roses and I'm eager for more.
ReplyDeleteLess political intrigue and battles and a focus on the everyday lives of these women - a different perspective than usual - should be most interesting.
DeleteI have been thinking about The Orchardist for a while now!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your loot!
Blood Sisters sounds really good and I have heard positive things about The Orchardist. Enjoy your loot!
