Monthly Roundup - September 2010

Another month gone - where do the days go? It's been a busy month at home with family here most of the time and at present we're in the second week of looking after our three-year-old grandson. Lots of fun but not easy to get back into days of regular routine ruled by the needs of others.
Doesn't seem to have affected my reading at all but I do sometimes struggle to find blogging time.

Books Read in September = 14

Faithful Place - Tana French
Still Missing - Chevy Stevens
Her Fearful Symmetry - Audrey Niffenegger
Beautiful Malice - Rebecca James
Time's Legacy - Barbara Erskine
The Bones of Avalon - Phil Rickman
Nanny Returns - N. Kraus & E.McLaughlin
The Treasure of Montsegur - Sophy Burnham
We Have Always Lived in the Castle - Shirley Jackson
The Age of Innocence - Edith Wharton
Arcadia Falls - Carol Goodman
The Elegance of the Hedgehog - Muriel Barbery
The Scarlet Contessa by Jeanne Kalogrides
The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland

DNF = None

Challenges

I completed two challenges in September
Typically British Challenge
Thriller/Suspense Challenge.

The Countdown Challenge ends on the 10th October - at the beginning of September I only had 6 more books to reach the 55 total but decided that was too much pressure with everything else I had to read so have let it go.

I joined up the RIP V Challenge. I began book blogging in November last year and remember how all the posts about this challenge made me regret I'd missed it and have been looking forward to this years event.

Readalongs

I'm becoming a bit of  a readalong junkie but made up my mind to have September off - that intention lasted only a week before I was tempted into these two:
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova - at On the Ledge Readalongs, Sept 20 - Oct 31. Comments and discussions are posted at the home site once a week.
Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa hosted by JennersSept 20 -Nov 22 - I'll be doing regular progress posts here for that with the first one in the next couple of days.

So a little more organisation with the reading as well as the domestic scene and so far it's working well.
My only problem is I'm reluctant to commit to anything too time consuming which means once again I'm going to miss the upcoming read-a-thon. I didn't formally participate in the BBAW either but really enjoyed reading everyone's posts and visiting some lovely new blogs.......and adding a few more to google reader.

I hope everyone has a Happy October with lots of wonderful reading!

  5. Good month for you :) And don't be sad I will miss the readathon too, mostly cos I can't stay up and read during the night when I have been up too long before it starts, oh and we live in like one room
