Library Loot

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Marg at The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader and Claire at The Captive Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library.
On the eve of the annual book fair the last thing I needed was a load of library books.......but there's no stopping some people! Yesterday I brought home.......

13 rue Therese by Elena Mauli Shapiro.........'a box of mementoes opens a window on a story of memory, war and passion.' I've read many positive reviews of this one so expecting good things from it.
Sticks and Stones by Ilsa Evans.......the story of a young woman desperately trying to save herself and her children from an abusive marriage.
Blue Monday by Nicci French......' The abduction of five-year-old Matthew Faraday provokes a national outcry and a desperate police hunt.' I always enjoy Nicci French so looking forward to this crime suspense thriller.

Because I'm a bit behind with the Aussie Author challenge I made a point of looking for Australian authors. Sticks and Stones is one and so are the following three.....

Little People by Jane Sullivan...... historical fiction. ' When Mary Ann, an impoverished governess, rescues a child from the Yarra River, she sets in motion a train of events that she could never have foreseen. It is not a child she has saved but General Tom Thumb, star of a celebrated troop of midgets on their 1870 tour of Australia."
Bereft by Chris Womersley.......' a dark brooding story of war, family secrets and a man's search for justice.' I've been meaning to read this for ages so now's the time to actually do it.
Fugitive Blue by Claire Thomas.....' the story of a young art conservator and her work on a fifteenth century panel painting in striking ultramarine.'

Hope you found some great loot too!

Marg - Bereft is one of those books I feel I should read which isn't always the best reason for picking up a book.

lola - I've wanted to read it for a while too so was pleased to see it on the shelves.
