It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

hosted by Sheila

A weekly meme where we list the books completed last week, the books currently being read and the books we plan to read this week.

I've had some good reading in the past two weeks but I'm not doing so well at keeping up with reviews. With a touch of Autumn in the early mornings and evenings bringing a reminder that winter is approaching , making the most of the gloriously warm and sunny days has top priority .

Read during past two weeks

Redemption by Laurel Dewey
Prophecy: Clash of Kings by M.K.Hume
Lake of Dreams by Kim Edwards
Harbour by John Ajvide Lindqvist
Fragile by Lisa Unger
When it Rains by Maggie MacKellar (NF)

Other reviews added
Pearl by Deirdre Purcell
The People's Queen by Vanora Bennett
The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley

Currently I'm Reading

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Oh dear............I'm 200 pages in and if something doesn't happen soon I have serious doubts about whether I'll continue.

It sounded so promising but it's soooooooo slow....I love the historic detail and the atmosphere of the old library but some action is sorely needed.

Coming Up Next

The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry
Lasting Damage by Sophie Hannah

Have a great reading week!

  2. Some great titles there. I just tortured myself through a thriller :-( I hope Witches gets better pronto or I say add it to the DNF list.

  4. Samita/Brooke - I hope I'm not putting everyone off too much. :-(

Sheila - fortunately mine is a library book.

Marce - I agree, no point in prolonging the agony.

  6. I bailed on Witches about a third of the way through for much the same reasons. So if you do give up you're not alone!

  7. Miss Moppet - it's good to hear I'm not the only one!

  8. 200 pages is a lot to give a book where nothing is happening...I've promised myself to give up after about a hundred.

    Thanks for stopping by mine.

BTW: So far, the Bram Stoker book isn't as creepy as advertised.

  9. So disapppointing to find a book that seems so appealing but then you discover it to be a slow read. I just finished a couple of those and it was a bit like trudgery to do so. Hopefully your new reads will make up for it.

  10. How did you find Lake of Dreams? I enjoyed Kim's Memory Daughter, so I'm really eager to check this one out!

  11. I'm sad to hear that A Discovery of Witches isn't as good as you'd hoped, I love the title! I might have to reconsider its location on my TBR list!

  12. Aths - Lake of Dreams was a little disappointing - a nice story, well written but nothing out of the ordinary.

Bev - I wouldn't normally read 200p but I kept thinking it would pick up.

Shirley,Crystal - it is a bit of a let down - I'd been looking forward to it.
