Monthly Roundup - June 2011

Another month gone and this one ends on a brighter note despite the wet and wintry weather here in the Southern Hemisphere. I finally feel as though I've regained my enthusiasm after weeks of lack of interest in the books that were coming my way - I seemed to be continually starting a book and then discarding it after a few pages - I lost count of the number of DNF I returned to the library.

My reading in June fell into three categories.

1. Genealogy books and magazine articles for my family tree research
2. The Shantaram Readalong  which continues through July. We're almost half-way and I'm really loving this book and look forward to my time with it each week.
3. To balance the intensity of Shantaram I tried to keep the other books I read light and entertaining which didn't always work too well and probably why I had so many DNFs.

Looking Forward to July
Hosted by Bookbath and Thyme for Tea
I started making a list of books but then gave up as that's usually a sure way to feel overwhelmed and leads on to failure. I decided to participate as an excuse to get my photo albums out and relive the magical four days we spent in Paris in 2001 and with the school holidays also looming and the possibility of grandchildren visiting I'm not planning to read anything too long or too intense......just have some fun!

I wish you all a wonderful July with lots of great books coming your way!

  1. I know what you mean about making lists and feeling overwhelmed. I've asked around for review copies of French books so I'm going to commit to them and watch some (hopefully) enjoyable films. Looking forward to following you in July :)
