Monthly Roundup - March 2010

Normally I would have reviewed the past month as a part of Suddenly Sunday but Georgette Heyer came to visit . Instead , having discovered that Blogger had new templates , I gave the blog a facelift - nothing like a change and I think this one has a lighter, brighter look. The only problem I'm having is the links within posts don't show in a different colour like before unless you hover the pointer so the best I can do is write them in bold as an indication of a link.

It's been a good reading month , not only in numbers but in a wider variety of  genres being read which is one goal I had for the year. I've even ventured into the realms of YA and really enjoyed the books I've read so far.

Books Read in March = 16

The King's Mistress - Emma Campion
Son of the Shadows - Juliet Marillier
A Reliable Wife - Robert Goolrick
The Pirate's Daughter - Margaret Cezair - Thompson
The Brutal Telling - Louise Penny
The Mistress of Nothing - Kate Pullinger
Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts - Lucy Dillon
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan - Lisa See
From Harvey River - Lorna Goodison
Prophecy of the Sisters - Michelle Zink
Faro's Daughter - Georgette Heyer
Taken by Storm - Angela Morrison
Leaving Gee's Bend - Irene Latham
Blood Royal - Vanora Bennett
Mao's Last Dancer - Li Cunxin
An Empty Death - Laura Wilson

Reviews to come for the last four.

I enjoyed reading for and participating in the....
Classics Circuit Georgette Heyer Tour
The Spotlight Series

I also signed up with International Book Tours - the majority of their books are YA and I've really enjoyed the two I've received so far.

More Challenges:

The Four Month Reading Challenge 3
The Non-Fiction Five Challenge
Once Upon a Time Challenge

These are all short 3/4 month challenges which will run through our winter months so shouldn't add too much extra load to the reading.

The Blog Hop at Jennifer's Crazy-for-Books has proved to be a great success . So many beautiful blogs out there and this is an opportunity to find and visit them. It is time consuming though and once a week is too often for me so from now on it will probably be every 2/3 weeks.

Looking forward to April: Easter approaching this weekend and then the schoolchildren have a fortnights holiday break. That means the possibility of little people coming to stay for a few days so I'm preparing to take a step back in April and not commit myself to too much with a deadline . Instead I'll focus on reading and reviewing when I have the free time.

It's hard to believe that three months of the year have gone already. Tomorrow Tell Me A Story will be 5 months old..........it's been a fun ride and long may it continue.
