It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

A weekly event hosted by Sheila at One Persons Journey

Where we list the books completed last week, the books currently being read and the books we plan to read this week.

In the last two weeks my focus has been on the two readalongs I'm participating in ( when I'm not running around chasing a lively three-year-old grandson who we're babysitting at present - one more week to go).

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Musashi by Eiji Yoshiskawa

I'm enjoying both these books but they are too weighty for bed so have also managed a few lighter reads.

The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery
The Scarlet Contessa by Jeanne Kalogrides
The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland
The Grave Tattoo by Val McDermid

Reviews posted:

Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger
Time's Legacy by Barbara Erskine
The Treasure of Montsegur by Sophy Burnham

Currently I'm reading

Tiger Hills by Sarita Mandanna

I'm struggling with this one as it doesn't seem to be capturing my attention at all.
I think part of the problem is I'm not used to reading more than one book at a time and I probably need something lighter than this.

After that I don't know - I usually end up changing my mind - and nothing is really calling strongly. These two ......

Ghost Light by Joseph O'Connor
Affinity by Sarah Waters

What are you reading this week?

  6. I wanted to read The Scarlet Contessa but was hesitant on reading a book that will probably have a sad ending when I have so many other books to read. What were your thoughts? Have a great week :)

pussreboots - I'm not sure about it yet. Will be hard to beat Litttle Stranger.

Svea - I hope to have a review up this week but it doesn't have a sad ending!

  13. I loved The Elegance of the Hedgehog. So many delicious ideas, themes, language in that book. I will probably read it again in the future, because I loved the ideas and quirky characters so much.

I'm glad to see you haven't read dozens of books - some of the other blogs I've visited this week seem to have read 10 or 12 books per week, and made me (with my paltry 1 book read last week) feel like a slacker!

  14. Jan - thanks - I hope they as good as they look.

Teddyree - I'm really enjoying The Historian and hope you will too.

Sheila - I enjoyed another of his earlier this year so hope Ghost Light will be as good.

Amanda - I'd find it hard to read that many and know I've given each one the attention it deserves.
